What is the Eternal Memorial Grave?

For those who find it difficult to visit a grave, Koukyouji records their names in the Eternal Memorial Register and conducts memorial services on their behalf five times a year, in perpetuity. This offers peace of mind even when no one remains to care for the grave in the future.

Unlike a typical ossuary, Koukyouji's eternal memorial grave is a grave-style facility where, in addition to entrusting the remains, visitors can still come to pay their respects in person.

For Those with These Concerns

• Those who wish to continue visiting the grave after interment
• Those who currently have a grave but whose future caretaker is uncertain
• Those whose family grave is far away and difficult to visit
• Those who have already entrusted remains elsewhere (such as in a home altar or columbarium)
• Those who are not yet ready to build a grave and wish to entrust remains temporarily

Relocation of Remains

We are also happy to discuss relocating remains from an existing grave to Koukyouji's eternal memorial grave. Whether your family grave is far away or has become difficult to maintain, please feel free to consult us.

Memorial Fees

The suggested memorial fee is ¥500,000 or more per set of remains. After interment, Koukyouji will offer memorial services at each of its five annual events, in perpetuity.

For those interring multiple sets of remains or with particular circumstances, please feel free to discuss the fee with us. Please also note that the cost of engraving a name on the memorial plaque is paid separately to the stonemason.
